Project Log:  Thursday, January 16, 2014

Using up the last bit of time at the end of a day, I gathered the pile of teak bulwark strips that I'd had in storage for the past three years.  When I left off with these, I'd made various repairs to the ends and elsewhere, and cleaned them up and sanded them through 80 grit before storing them away.

Now, wanting to get these reinstalled as soon as possible, I continued the sanding process, sanding the exposed sides (and the short sections of the "back" sides that would be exposed in the freeing port openings) with 120 grit paper to further clean them and smooth them.  This grit would be fine enough for this purpose.  I sanded all eighteen sections, brightening the wood and preparing them for varnish before installation.
